15 Years Later (well, 8 really)
It’s always fun when an old article pops up in the Hot Topics widget of our website, suggesting a sudden surge of interest. Today, for example, the recent release of 28 Years Later apparently gave a boost to our retro review of 28 Days Later, which was written eight years ago after a 15th anniversary screening of the film hosted by actor Ryan Kwanten (pictured above) as part of a Throwback Thursday Zombie House Party. The event included live music, vendors, and a Q&A with composer John Murphy. There was so much going on we split the article into two parts, one focusing on the screening and one on the party. As big fans of seeing movies on the big screen, we love events like this, so we’re happy to see our coverage get some attention.
On the other hand, it can be annoying to see how the presentation of older articles sometimes fails to stack up to how we do things today. Most often it’s a matter of thumbnail photos instead of full-size (a vestige from the days of slow internet speed, when high-def images took forever to load). Sometimes, the Ratings Scale is missing from the Review box at the bottom, or the Review box itself is missing. Maybe the article was not filed in the right sub-category, or the sub-category did not exist when the article posted. Whatever the problem, if the article is generating renewed interest, we go back in and fix the problems, spending time on an eight-year-old article.
Which may explain why we are sometimes slow to keep up with current events.
