Description: As part of “2012: A Kubrick Odyssey” – a complete chronological series of Kubrick entire filmed oeuvre – the Los Angeles County Museum of Art screens the filmmaker’s 1971 adaptation of Anthony Burgess novel, set in a future England, when gang violence leads to repressive experimental techniques that repress free will. The bleak and disturbing portrait of the future borders on the immoral, thanks to Malcolm McDowell’s engaging performance as Alex, who narrates the tale and lulls us into sympathizing with him, in spite (or because?) of the violence he perpetrates.
Tickets to the Bing Theater are $10 for the general public; $7 for LACMA members, seniors (62+), and students with valid ID; $5 LACMA Film Club members and Academy members with valid ID.
“2012: A Kubrick Odyssey” is presented conjunction with LACMA’s Stanley Kubrick exhibition, which runs through June 30, 2013.
