Jean-Luc Godard's bizarro science fiction film - allegedly set on an alien planet but filmed exactly like a film noir, down to the private eye (Eddie Constantine) wearing a raincoat. It's a funny conceit but not enough to warrant all the adulations the film has received. Screens on the bottom half of a double bill with Godard's BREATHLESS, as part of the American Cinematheque's "Masterpieces from French Cinema."
