Argento & DePalma: Blood Brothers at the Egyptian

Argento & DePalma: Blood Brothers – a series highlight the horror-thrillers of Dario Argento and Brian DePalma – launches tonight with a double bill of Suspiria (1977) and Carrie (1976). The pairing of the two directors is an inspired one: Argento and DePalma share similar influences (Hitchcock being only the most obvious); there are inter-connective threads in films, in terms of the talent they have worked with; and both were noted for their willingness to employ every cinematic technique at their disposal: elaborate camera movement, jarring editing. and emphatic scoring.

Presented by the American Cinematheque and Cinematic Void, Argento & DePalma: Blood Brothers runs Thursday through Saturday at the Egyptian. Films include:

  • Suspria & Carrie – January 24
  • Blow Out & Inferno -January 25
  • Dressed to Kill and Tenebrae – January 26

All films start at 7:30pm. Visit the Cinematheque webpage for more information.
