Dan O’Bannon Tribute, The Resurrected & Dark Star

The American Cinematheque pays tribute to writer (ALIEN) and sometimes director (RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD) Dan O’Bannon with this double bill of horror and science fiction. THE RESURRECTED – which is presented for the first time in its director’s cut – is an adaptation of Lovecraft’s “The Case of Charles Dexter Ward,” starring Chris Sarandon as an occultist who resurrects his evil warlock ancestor. DARK STAR is the justly renowned cult film that O’Bannon co-wrote with director John Carpenter – a student film at USC that went on to earn a theatrical release.
