Dark Harbor’s Voodoo Priestess has no village to haunt

As longtime fans of the Queen Mary’s various Halloween events, Hollywood Gothique takes no joy in criticizing the Queen Mary Dark Harbor. Nevertheless, we do find it amusing that the official website still pushes the Voodoo Priestess as one of the event’s featured monsters, even though she no longer has a maze to haunt.

It was a big mistake to replace Voodoo Village with a bar for Halloween 2016. Throughout its various incarnations, the Queen Mary has always faced the challenge of creating mazes on land that were as menacing and convincing as the dark, rusty passages aboard the ship. The one location that could match the Queen Mary herself was the Fisherman’s Village, whose quaint architecture was easily adaptable for an old-fashioned horror setting. Alas, no more…

This year, the Queen Mary drops anchor in Dark Harbor on September 28.
