Delubyo (Deluge) ends tonight

Just a reminder: Tonight is your last chance to see the Deluby/Deluge exhibt of fantastic art by Louis Cordero at GIANT ROBOT – 2062 Sawtelle Blvd, Los Angeles. (310) 445-9276.

According to the press release:

Cordero’s first solo show in Los Angeles is titled Delubyo (Deluge). Four 4-by-4-foot paintings on canvas as well as smaller pieces on canvas and paper will depict, among other topics, “dead humans mutated into weird zombies like landscapes.” The themes of his work are dark but always colorful and energetic, executed with an expert yet playful touch. Since studying painting at the University of the Philippines, the 29-year-old artist has self-published Nardong Tae comics; participated in solo and group shows in Asia, North America, and Australia; and received prestigious honors including the Thirteen Artists Art Award at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. His work varies, ranging from large intricate paintings that reflect the influence of freewheeling, hand-painted folk signage as well as the psychedelic composition of Robert Williams to linework paying tribute to the hyper-detailed, hyperactive, grotesque visions of Basil Wolverton.
