Denis Villenueve to appear in person at American Cinematheque

The American Cinemathque has announced a weekend tribute to filmmaker Denis Villenueve, who will appear in person at screenings of his films, including Dune, Blade Runner 2049, and Arrival. The three-day event will take place Friday through Sunday, January 7-9 at the Los Feliz Theatre in Los Angeles and the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica.

In addition to the films listed above, the tribute will include Villenueve’s 2013 film Enemy, starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a man tormented by his dopplegänger. Villenueve will also present a screening of one of his favorite films, Ingmar Bergman’s Persona (1996), which prefigures Villenueve’s early work by disguising horror elements in art-house drag.

Tickets range are $8-10 for American Cinematheque members, $13-15 for non-members. The Saturday screening of Dune at the Aero is free but open to members only.
