Thrill to the tales of Edgar Allan Poe and Edward Gorey in an evening of chilling drama presented by the actors of the Guild of St. George. Haunting works will be enacted throughout the moonlit grounds, including “The Pit and the Pendulum”, “The Tell Tale Heart”, “The Gashlycrumb Tinies”, and more. Goosebumps guaranteed! Ages 10 to adult. (May be too intense for younger children.)
During the course of Drama After Dark: A Night of the Macabre with Poe and Gorey for Halloween, audience members will be able to see up to six out of the ten or more performances, which vary in times from one-half hour to one-hour and are played simultaneously at various sites throughout the upper levels of the grounds. A list of the performances and maps will be available on the night of the event.
Most of the performances will be outdoors (chairs are provided) and you will be walking to the various performance sites. To enhance the mood of the evening, many of the lights on the grounds will be dimmed or turned off completely.
Program will be held rain or shine. Things to bring and wear: flashlight; warm clothing; walking shoes; please no Halloween costumes; Victorian and Edwardian costumes are okay.
‘The Bookstore and More’ will be open from 5:00-7p.m and will have available for purchase Poe, Gorey and other haunting items!
Will-call in the Entrance Pavilion will be open at 6:00p.m.
Complimentary hot cider and cookies will be served in the Entrance Pavilion.
NOTE: No one under 10 years old will be admitted.
