Fright Fest Resurrects Willoughby’s Haunted Mansion – again!

Our favorite haunt at the Six Flags Magic Mountain Fright Fest – in fact, one of our favorite Halloween attractions in Los Angeles – was Willoughby’s Haunted Mansion – one of the few truly deserving the designation “haunted house.” Since Six Flags revamped it into Willoughby’s Resurrected a couple years ago, the haunt is even better than ever, enhanced with digital projection effects that augment the live actors, bringing spectral apparitions to life in a wonderfully realized environment of gloom and doom.

Six Flags Magic Mountain opens Fright Fest on Saturday, September 17. The event runs on Saturdays, Sundays, and some Fridays throughout October 30. Hours are10:30am to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, 10:30am to 11:00pm on Sundays.

In addition to Willoughby’s Resurrected, this year’s mazes are Aftermath 2: Chaos Rising (new);  Willoughby’s Garden of Darkness; Vault 666; Toyz of Terror 3D; Red’s Revenge; and Chupacabra. The latter two are also great favorites of ours.

2016 features two new scare zones: Suicide Squad and The Ruins. Returning are TERRORtory Twisted; Demon’s Door; Zombie Xing; Exhile Hill; and Nightmares: A Twisted Fantasy.

Prices start at $69.99 for a combo pass that grants entrance to the park’s daytime roller-coaster rides plus the nighttime haunts. $15 Maze Passes are available separately for those who already have a regular ticket or a season pass to Magic Mountain. It’s best to order in advance: online tickets are considerably cheaper than at the gate.
