Half-New for 2024: Half Dead Halloween Maze

Half Dead Halloween Maze is not exactly new. Rather it’s an old maze with new branding in a new location. Formerly the TGF Halloween Maze, it scared local trick-or-treaters for four seasons at its old location, Training Ground Fitness in Covina, until the owner sold his gym in order to concentrate on Halloween haunting. This year’s attraction, Neon Purge: The Killer Party, runs on October 25, 26 and 27, from 7pm to 11pm, at 712 Cienega Avenue, Unit B, San Dimas. Tickets are $10.

At its old location, the maze was an enjoyable throwback to the sort of DIY haunts that used to pop up around Los Angeles in October, retooling an existing location for the Halloween season and relying on enthusiasm and effort to compensate for the limited budget. The maze consisted of tarp walls, spider webs, balloons, bathed in fog and black lights, but it managed to deliver more than enough scares to justify its ticket price.

The haunt will remain at its new location (another gym) until it can find a permanent home in a venue specifically set up for Halloween. At the moment, Half Dead Halloween Maze’s only web presence remains the old Facebook page for Training Ground Fitness: facebook.com/TheTGFamily.
