Halloween Concert coming to Saban

This year’s Candlelight Halloween Concert takes place at the Saban Theatre on Friday, October 25, with performances starting at 6:30pm and 9pm. The evening promises a 60-minute “multi-sensory musical experience” featuring creepy classical music performed by Orchid Collective.

Scheduled are famous symphonic works and soundtrack music, including three pieces used in Disney’s Fantasia: Bach’s Toccata in D Minor, Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain (seen at top), and Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Other familiar classics include In the Hall of the Mountain King by Edvard Grieg Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns, and Funeral March of a Marionette by Charles Gounod.

Film music includes John Carpenter’s title theme for Halloween, Bernard Hermann’s Prelude from Psycho, and an excerpt from Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells used in The Exorcist, along with “Time Warp” from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and a medley of Danny Elfman’s music from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

The Saban Theatre is located at 8440 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. Doors open one hour before start time; late entry is not permitted. Tickets range from $30 to $94, plus fees.
