Status: Close. After cancelling its show during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, Opechee Haunt closed in 2021, because its creator, Sam Kellman, moved out of state to go to college. Kellman returned to Los Angeles during summer 2022 to produce a short immersive horror play titled Within Our Walls.

The Opechee Haunt History
The Opechee Haunt started in 2011 as a small maze at a Halloween party. Since then, the home haunt has grown, sometimes offering a walk-through, sometimes offering a yard display with recorded voices timed to lighting and visual effects, such as the 2017 production, Jack’s Halloween JamBOORee, an amusing display of talking Jack-O’Lanterns, with sound and lighting effects in the front yard.
For Halloween 2018, Opechee Haunt presented a walk-through titled the Donnie Darko Experience, inspired by the cult movie, which was creepy but too scary for all but the most timid trick-or-treaters. 2019 switched to a revised version of Jack’s Halloween JamBOOree.
For Halloween 2020, Opechee Haunt presented a new experience designed to work during the Covid-19 pandemic: For TOUR, Darren Ward (L.A. Murder Tours) crafted an immersive, self-guided tour to replace the live tours he could no longer lead in person during a time of social distancing. Participants navigated their vehicles through dark, sleepy neighborhoods where sinister stories lurk in the shadows – revealed via digital downloads.
