Now billing itself as “an ongoing, site-specific, fully-immersive and existential experience that explores the range of human emotions” Alone is no longer a Halloween haunt – if it ever was. No new events have been listed on the official website since its production SIMULACRUM at Camp Fangoria in July 2019. Those interested in future events should visit the official website to join the “insider” e-mail list for up-to-date information.
The Alone Experience History
The Alone Experience made its debut for Halloween 2013 as “Alone: An Existential Haunting,” offering a 30-minute walk-through experience, which each visitor had to accomplish on his own, with only a flashlight. The experience – described as one part interactive theatre and one part psychological haunting – sounded similar to the Blackout Haunted House: visitors filled out a waiver and then followed the instructions given inside the haunt; refusal to comply would result in removal, without a refund.
Since then, Alone has moved away from positioning itself as a Halloween haunt, offering its immersive theatrical experiences at various times throughout the year. It has also become a bit more insular, targeting its audience with an insider email list. Locations are not announced; ticket purchasers receive information a few days prior to their attendance date.
Alone is an 18-and-over event (bring photo i.d.). Wear comfortable shoes, and clothes you are not afraid to get dirty.
