KID-FRIENDLY HALLOWEEN FUN

Trick-or-Treating, Pumpkin Patches, Spooky Sleepovers, Costume Parties: The Best Kid-Friendly Halloween Fun in Los Angeles

Spooky Haunted House: Los Angeles Children's Halloween HauntsLooking for Kid-Friendly Halloween Fun in Los Angeles? The Southland offers many kid-safe seasonal events. Some are "lights-on" versions of scary night-time haunts; others are special afternoon or one-day presentations that take place in year-round facilities such as zoos and wildlife stations. Also, many L.A. neighborhoods get so far into the seasonal spirit that they appeal not only to local kids but also to outside families, who come to enjoy the decorated yard haunt displays and trick-or-treating opportunities.

NOTE: Kid-Friendly Halloween Fun includes events specifically targeted for young trick-or-treaters. However, there are many family-friendly Halloween Events and activities that appeal to a wider age-range, from older children to teens to families:

  • Halloween Festivities usually local events, that are designed for neighborhood families with children.
  •  Halloween Home Haunts: a great way to enjoy the holiday with your children. Most are safe for kids, especially if they are simply yard haunts, without a walk-through maze or actors portraying monsters.
  • Halloween Mazes and Rides frequently present family-friendly matinees on weekend afternoons. Unfortunately, these will usually not be available on Halloween Night.
  • The Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation offers Halloween events at several of their centers around town. Check their website for info.
  • We often add last-minute listings of Los Angeles Children's Halloween events to our news listings on the home page or to our calendar. There you will find one-shot events that do not show up on this page, which features annual recurring events.

Some Halloween attractions listed in other sections of the website may be appropriate for families with young children. The ones below better fit into other categories, but don't let that scare you from bringing the little ghosts and goblins along.

Unfortunately, the Halloween events we normally list here are closed for 2020 due to Covid-19.
