2019 Halloween Dates & Hours: To Be Announced

2019 Halloween Update: Richard & Christina's Haunted House, the former home haunt in Rowland Heights, moves into the Anaheim Garden Walk, which previously housed The Empty Grave.  This season's theme is "The Third Eye" (a reference to the Pang Brothers' Eye franchise, perhaps?).

A Chinese Ghost

Haunting since 2007, Richard & Christina's Haunted House offers an "East Meets West" approach to Halloween, mixing familiar horror movie icons (Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers) with spirits derived from Chinese and Japanese mythology, such as "The Ghostly Lady in a Red Cheongsam" (a traditional tale) and of course the long-hair ghost girls made famous in Ring and The Grudge.

Richard & Christina's Haunted House began its existence in Rowland Heights as a yard haunt, when the husband-and-wife team decided to fill the void after a popular neighborhood haunt shut down. Being immigrants (Richard from Taiwan; Christina from China), the couple incorporated Asian supernatural elements to create their own brand of Halloween horror. After the attraction outgrew its home, it moved to a local banquet hall for Halloween 2018, then to Anaheim Garden Walk in 2019.

Even since turning pro, Richard & Christina's Haunted House remains a hands-on, do-it-yourself effort. The 2018 version was relatively low-tech in terms of sets and special effects. Its strength lay in atmosphere, enthusiastic performances, and carefully arranged corridors that provided numerous unexpected hiding places. And of course the Asian horror influence distinguishes this haunted house from the overused cliches seen in many Los Angeles Halloween Haunts.
