Recommendations: Halloween High Tea, N’Ever Rest Cemetery, Spadena Witch House

Editor’s Note: Courtesy of correspondent Marie Desloups, here are capsule comments on a trio of recommended Halloween events, which up to now have not received the attention they deserve from Hollywood Gothique. All of them will be taking place this weekend, so plan your schedule accordingly.

Halloween Witches Tea at High Tea Cottage

One of the more unique Halloween events in the LA area is the costumed tea party at High Tea Cottage. This is a fun event whether you like tea and scones, mingling in costumes, or both. The tea and food are all special and themed for the day, and the servers are all in costume, as is everyone in attendance. There is a costume contest with prizes from everyone who participates, and the prizes are pretty good. I found this event to be a blast, but I should caution that a costume that leaves your mouth open is recommended so you can enjoy the food and drinks.

N’Ever Rest Cemetery & Haunted House

N’Everest Cemetery & Haunted House has been providing a great Halloween night for Antelope Valley residents for nearly two decades. If you’re in the area and want more than your average decorated yard, this is the place to be on Halloween night. The beautifully crafted decorations outside would be worth the trip on their own, but N’Ever Rest Cemetery & Haunted House provides the added bonus of a walk-through haunt with costumed ghouls and ghosts. This haunt has a smaller budget than nearby AV FEARGrounds, but N’Ever Rest puts in more effort and provides a better experience. The event runs for two nights, and it is free. I recommend this haunt for adults and kids alike.

Beverly Hills Witch House & Trick-or-Treating

Beverly Hills is a great place to spend Halloween, with some of the best decorated houses in town, and right next to the West Hollywood Carnaval. Tucked away in Beverly’s southwest corner is the most special house of all. Looking like a fairy-tale witch’s cottage, the famous Spadena House is an attraction year round. Crowds flock here Halloween night in such droves that the streets are blocked off. This is a spectacular place to spend your Halloween night if you want to get candy from a witch and mingle with thousands of people in costume.

Very Highly recommended for ample costumed attendance and location location location.
