For over three decades, Westchester Recreation Center has transformed itself into a terrifying "Westchester Haunted Park" during the final days of October. The annual Halloween attraction features two events.
The Park of Pain, set up inside a gymnasium, is a scary walk-through recommended for adults and children over 7. Geared for local trick-or-treaters: the settings are fairly simple, but the maze is lengthy; the monsters are not too scary for the youngsters, but they make an effort to put on a good spook-show that will work for the whole family.
The Halloween Kids Zone is for children eight years and younger. The afternoon event, which takes place every October 31, includes "carnival style" games, face painting, a trick or treat village, scary stories, a costume contest, and more. Admission is free.
