Halloween Review: Boot Hill

It has been a good 6 or 7 years since I’ve made the journey to the old Boot Hill in Irvine.  The differences from years ago are that more displays have been added, and now there is a video  playback detailing the Legend of Boot Hill, projected where visitors can watch while waiting in line. The story centers around the ghost of Jedediah Smith, “as he has been known to roam the decaying grounds of Boot Hill, exacting revenge on all who cross his path!”

Located in a quiet South Orange County community, Boot Hill is a nice boutique yard display and partial walk-through, with a little surprise jump scare. There is a small pathway filled with professionally lit displays, including animated projections and a floating lantern.  But beware, you’ll never know when or if Jedediah Smith and Co. may show up. There is a good photo spot if only the people in line weren’t in the way – early arrival is suggested, before crowds thicken.

Boot Hill encourages guests to park in the cross streets, but keep in mind that there are parking restrictions after 10pm.

Boot Hill is located at 16 Goldenrod in Irvine, CA 92614. Remaining dates for Halloween 2016 are October 28-31. Admission is free, but donations are accepted; a portion of the proceeds benefits Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Get more info at: legendofboothill.com.

After visiting Boot Hill, we suggest heading on to Higgins Manor in Mission Viejo which is 15 minutes further (reviewed here).
