Heritage Haunt in Newhall was one of our favorite Halloween discoveries from last year, so we are happy to announce that it will return for 2009. This year’s haunt – whose theme is Nightmares of Newhall – will be somewhat expanded from last year, with two mazes instead of one: Newhall Ranch House Nightmares and Psycho’s Fun House. There will also be two large scare zones (including a pirate ship and four new decorated homes) and a Haunted Hayride.
Set in an allegedly real haunted house, Heritage Haunt is part of Hart Park and Heritage Junction, a sort of museum preserving local history. There will be several other Halloween events at the Park and in Old Town Newhall that you can enjoy while visiting the haunt: a “Sleepy Hollow” ballet, live music, a costume parade, pumpkin carving, tours of the park and the museum and a back-stage tour of the haunt itself, showing off the secrets behind the special effects.
There will also be a “Zombie Walk” canned-food drive on October 17 and a Pumpkin Festival in Old Town Newhall on October 24, from 11am to 3pm.
Dates for this year are October 17, 23-24, 30-31, from 7-10pm.
Tickets are $10. Look for discount coupons at local businesses in the Santa Clarita area, or check at the website. Parking is free.
