High Desert Haunt drenched

Southern California weather is raining on Hollywood Gothique’s Halloween parade, metaphorically speaking. Last night, we took the long drive to the middle of nowhere for the High Desert Haunted House – braving narrow dirt roads cracked with rivulets of mud that threatened to catch our tires – only to find it closed because of rain. (To be fair, they had posted an announcement, which we overlooked in the rush to visit Haunted Ghosts of Little Tokyo Walking Tour earlier in the day.) Located at 9976 Joshua Road, Apple Valley, 92308, the High Desert Haunted House will resume on Thursday with family night before returning to full scaring on the weekend.

Fortunately, the trip to Apple Valley was not wasted: we got to the All Saints Lunatic Asylum just before closing and had a wonderful time. More on that later.
