Ho-hum, ho-hum – it’s the same old bilge again!
Don’t have time to do a full dissection on everything wrong the fetid flotsam that is PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD’S END (a task that could require the immortal longevity of Davey Jones himself), but I just couldn’t wait to use that headline, which pretty much sums up the experience. Almost everything right about the first film has been forgotten, and almost everything wrong with the second one has been repeated.
After this, and LORD OF THE RINGS and THE MATRIX, it’s hard not to believe there’s some kind of immutable law of the universe stating the trilogies must end not with a bang but a wimper.
