Holiday Road 2020 Review

Produced by the team behind Nights Of The Jack at King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas, Holiday Road triumphs in the areas where its Halloween cousin Jack was lacking. Nights Of The Jack was enjoyed as an outdoor walk-through before 2020; when it was converted to a drive-through experience this October, visitors were denied the pleasure of looking at the details of each intricately carved Jack ‘O Lantern display up close. Instead, they were in cars rushed through by the line monitors demanding they not stop to peruse the installations. We are pleased to inform you that there is no such problem at Holiday Road.

Since this event was designed from the ground up to be a drive-through experience, the producers made sure that everything is clearly visible from the vehicle. Sets are large, well-lit, and elaborate. The only scene that was difficult to see was Santa’s workshop, because there was so much going on. It’s best to have someone sitting on the left side of the vehicle capture video for you to playback later.

Following the same route as Nights of the Jack, visitors can expect a completely different experience. Nothing – we repeat, nothing – has been recycled from their Halloween drive-through.  Everything looks brand new, even down to the string lights. You can expect to see high quality decor sprawled throughout the entire experience, with different elements and facets of Christmas and Hanukkah. Guests can either tune in to the FM frequency or just roll down their windows to enjoy the musical accompaniment. We recommended rolling down the windows because the soundtrack that is played on the grounds is different from the radio broadcast. The music played on-site seems more fitting for each village you pass through.

Holiday Road 2020 Review: Conclusion

We have long been anticipating a holiday event from this production team. Little did we know, it would come in arguably the most memorable year of our lives and in the form of a drive-through.  Though we would much prefer a walk-through, we were not disappointed by Holiday Road’s drive-through experience since it was done right. This winter, we heard no redundantly repeated orders to keep moving forward. Those little words do not enhance the experience for which people paid good money so that they could stop for photos. We’re happy that this interruption has been corrected for Holiday Road, resulting in a thoroughly enjoyable Christmas-time experience.

Bottom Line

Great holiday event for families or a packed vehicle to get your money’s worth.  It is our opinion that this is one of the top three holiday drive-throughs you’ll likely see this season.  So if you are trying to spend your money wisely, consider this drive-through experience!

Holiday Road continues until January 10th at King Gillette Ranch, 26800 Mulholland Highway, Calabasas, CA 91302.  Tickets start at $75. For more information you can visita:  holidayroadusa.com.
