Hollywood Gothique talks Night of the Living Spook Shows at Midsummer Scream

On Saturday, July 28 at 1:00pm, your humble host will be taking part in a panel about the Midnight Spook Show phenomenon at Midsummer Scream in Long Beach. Midnight Spook Shows were a popular form of traveling entertainment in the 1930s through the 1970s, featuring magic, hypnotism, and alleged attempts to raise the dead. The recent stage play, Dr. Zomba’s Ghost Show of Terror (reviewed here) recreated the form to great effect; now you can learn more about the history, thanks to a panel of well-informed guests. I will be joining:

  • David Lucarelli & David M Beach (Doctor Zomba’s Ghost Show of Terror)
  • Robert Reynoso (The Haunted House of the Ghoul Spook Show)
  • Jeff Markin (The Return of the Midnite Spook Show)

Midsummer Scream takes place this weekend at the Long Beach Convention Center. The address is 300 E Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach, CA 90802. The convention center website is: longbeachcc.com. The event website is: midsummerscream.org. One-day tickets for Saturday cost $34.
