Description: LACMA presents a Tuesday matinee screening of this 1943 classic, one of a series of subtle horror movies produced by Val Lewton in the 1940s. Overt shocks are few and far between; instead, this is a wonderful, sophisticated mood piece about a nurse in the Caribbean who resorts to voodoo to cure her patient, even though she’s in love with the woman’s husband. 1943/b&w/70 min.| Scr: Curt Siodmak, Ardel Wray dir: Jacques Tourneur; w/ James Ellison, Frances Dee, Tom Conway, Edith Barrett.
