Long Beach Zombie Fest 2019 cancelled

The 2019 Long Beach Zombie Fest has been cancelled because the venue, the Rainbow Lagoon in Long Beach, will not be available. The three-day festival – featuring workshops, scare zones, and a zombie walk – had been announced weeks ago for the weekend of October 18-20. A message on the official website reads:

2019 Long Beach Zombie Fest has been unfortunately postponed this year. It’s a great annual event that we all look forward to; however, this is out of our control. City of Long Beach has denied our 2019 dates for the venue stating “not available” and has denied our application to proceed. Due to the short notice (less than 60 days), the event cannot be relocated for this year.

Is it just us, or does there seem to be a very high mortality rate for Halloween events this year?
