Meyer2Meyer plans twisted take on A Christmas Carol
Meyer2Meyer Entertainment has announced three new shows themed for the holiday season, including a new take on Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. All three shows will take place the company’s new home, The Nocturne Theatre in Glendale, where this Halloween’s installment of Haunted Soirée: A Macabre Cocktail Party took place.
Most directly of interest to our readers is Madame Scrooge: A Christmas Carol Musical, which recounts the famous story as told from the point of view of miserly spinster Madame Eleanore Scrooge (tephanie Hodgdon), who is visited by her late partner and the Three Spirits of Christmas. Written by Justin Patrick Meyer, the adaptation is scored by film composer Chris Thomas, with scenic design by architect and stage craftsman Jay Michael Roberts. The distinctive ghost, creature, and costumes are supplied by designer Tanya Cyr, whose work has graced not only House of Spirits but also Bite: LA. (our favorite outdoor drive-through event of the 2020 pandemic).
The two-hour show (with intermission) runs on weekends and select Thursdays from December 1 through 23, with performances starting at 7:30pm on Thursdays, 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2pm on Sundays. Tickets range from $11.50 to $47.50 depending on seating (in the round).
The other two shows are Spirits Of The Season: Vintage Cocktails and Holiday Jazz and Reindeer Games: Holiday Activities For Kids. The former is an immersive pop-up holiday bar, with five themed lounges, tucked away on the second floor of the Nocturne Theatre. Tickets are $15; limited seating is available at reserved tables. The latter is a two-hour fun-filled morning or afternoon for youngsters (recommended Ages 4 – 9) with a reindeer roundup “sno-ball fight” (not real snow), and a mission from Santa Claus Tickets are $30 per child (includes one adult admission). Both shows run on select days in December through the 23rd.
Tickets for all shows are on sale now. Advance online sales (use code: EarlyBird) are 30% off.
