Monsters invade Santa Monica Art Musuem

Monsters: Exhibit of Horrors is invading the Santa Monica Art Museum this week. The one-hour experience invites visitors to “explore the origins, evolution, and chilling psychological impact of monsters.” Highlights include eight chambers immersing you in the world of vampires, werewolves, zombies, ghosts, and other monsters; each is filled with art, photo ops, and unexpected frights around every corner.

Monsters: Exhibit of Horrors runs from September 18 through January 5 during regular business hours: 4pm to 9pm Wednesday through Friday; noon to 10pm on Saturday; and noon to 8:30pm on Sunday. Some additional dates on Mondays and Tuesdays take place in October and November; the exhibition runs daily from December 24 through January 5.

Tickets are sold with time entry in half-hour intervals from opening till closing. Prices are $19 for ages 6-17, $29 for adults, $49 for VIP tickets. Group tickets (10 or more) are available for $24 apiece, and there is a $19-discount price for seniors (65 and over), students (13-26), and military. Admission is free for ages four and under.

There are also add-ons for additional fees: $10 for a “hunter’s journal” (interactive guide) and $7 for a coffin challenge (motion-simulation of your final ride to the graveyard). Both of these are included with the VIP tickets, along with expedited entry.

The Santa Monica Art Museum is located 1219 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. For tickets and information, visit their website.
