Photos: Midsummer Scream 2023

Midsummer Scream kicks off to what many feel is the start of the Halloween season, at least in California.  Whenever we talk to out-of-towners about going to a Halloween convention in July/August, they often give us a blank stare.  Little do they realize, it is totally a thing here.

Located again at the Long Beach Convention Center, the event runs until Sunday July 30th, 2023 at 6 p.m.  On-site parking is sparse, we highly suggest getting their early or parking at neighboring lots for about the same rate.  You can get tickets here.

Three notable things that caught our attention: The SAW Xperience, The Magic of the Jack O’ Lanterns and the return of Knott’s Scary Farm at MSS.  MSS fans got a preview of the new Saw X movie along with a panel of special guests including the director.  We saw a special message recorded just for MSS from the one and only Jigsaw himself along with exclusive clips that world-premiered at Midsummer Scream on Saturday.  The Magic of the Jack O’ Lanterns is Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group’s newest Halloween attraction, bringing their total to 4 here in southern California.  This is a magical walk-through that is all-ages friendly.  Lastly, Knott’s Scary Farm returned with a grand photo-op with a duo of vampire brides.  Perhaps this could be a hint of what to expect during Scary Farm?  We’re excited for the previews we’ve witnessed so far for the upcoming haunt season.
