Random Grindhouse thoughts

This is the last weekend of the Grindhouse Film Festival at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles, which has been featuring a slew of titles selected by Quentin Tarantino. They’re wrapping up with DEATH RAGE (1976) and CRY OF THE PROSTITUTE (1974) tonight and tomorrow; then a couple of bogus Bruce Lee titles will screen Sunday through Tuesday.

I can’t help thinking: with the disappointing box office returns of Tarantino and Rodriquez’s GRINDHOUSE feature film, the New Beverly’s Grindhouse Festival may actually end up lasting longer than the GRINDHOUSE theatrical run. There’s a lesson there, somewhere, if we can just suss it out.
