Ring Festival: An Evening with Maestro James Conlon

Description: This is a little bit off the beaten path for Hollywood Gothique but still interesting: part of a “a citywide series of special exhibitions, performances, symposia, and events centered on LA Opera’s upcoming presentation of Richard Wagner’s Ring cycle, the first time that the epic masterwork will be presented in its entirety in Los Angeles.” Wagner’s quartet of RING operas are sort of the LORD OF THE RINGS of their day, a saga of heroes battling Gods and Monsters. The first complete performance of the entire cycle in Los Angeles is a historic event worth noting, even if opera isn’t usually your thing.
