Screamfest will open Books of Blood

The Screamfest, the annual Halloween horror film festival, opens with a free pop-up drive-in screening of Netflix’s Books of Blood, directed by Brannon Braga (Star Trek: The Next Generation) from a script he cowrote with Adam Simon, based on the short story by Clive Barker. The event will take place at 7pm on Tuesday, October 6 in Malibu’s Calamigos Ranch. The festival will continue at Regency Theatres Van Nuys Plant 16, from October 7 through 15, screening dozens of new horror films.

Details about the Books of Blood screening are listed in our calendar here. Information about the rest of the festival, including a complete schedule of films, is in our calendar here.

Screamfest emphasizes new and independent filmmakers, often introducing audiences to excellent horror films before they are picked up for distribution in the U.S. (such as Paranormal Activity). The festival’s official website is here: screamfestla.com.
