Star Trek’s much maligned big screen debut – which is actually pretty spectacular and imaginative, despite a lethargic pace – gets the big screen tretment from the American Cinematheque. The original TREK cast is back, led by William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and Deforest Kelly, in a story written by Gene Roddenberry. The great Robert Wise directed, although this is not up to his other science fiction classic, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (1951).
