Halloween Haunt Odyssey 2009: Forest of Mirrors

We are back for another installment of our annual Halloween Haunt Odyssey. This is an article in which we round up all the haunted attractions and Halloween events in Los Angeles that we visit on the night of October 31; predominantly, these tend to be Halloween yard haunts, because many of those tend to be open only on Halloween night. This year's odyssey was small in number but large in quantity, because we toured haunted houses in widely separated geographical areas: the Forest of Mirrors and the Reign of Terror in the West Valley; the House of Restless Spirits and the Eternal Rest Cemetery not far from the beaches of Santa Monica and Venice.

Knott's Scary Farm 2009: Dia de Los Muertos Video

Well, we saved the best for last! We found the 2009 Knotts Berry Farm Halloween Haunt to be enjoyable, but the new mazes were not quite as full of new and exciting stuff as we had hoped. Lockdown The Asylum and Uncle Bobo's Big Top of the Bizarre were fun, and we appreciated the old-fashioned Victorian atmosphere of Terror of London, but the real highlight was Dia de Los Muertos: Day of the Dead, which is the subject of our fourth and final video from this year's Knott's Scary Farm.

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride 2009 - Review

This is a real Halloween treat for fright fans who want to enjoy their scares in the open air. Climb aboard a tractor-pulled trailer that winds its way through woods haunted by monsters of every size and shape, some ten feet tall. Travel past cemeteries, corn rows, and old dark house; even go inside a dark carnival filled with crazy clowns. See demented maniacs, mad doctors, zombies cannibals, werewolves, and living scarecrows. Is that Sadako climbing out of the well, looking for victims? And is that Jason Voorhees atop the hill, ready to attack? What other strange, unseen things lurk in the shadows, unseen but ready to attack at any moment?

Universal Studios annual Halloween event emerges as the top of this year's theme park Halloween events, loaded with more than enough sadistic screams to satisfy the most masochistic scare-lover. Halloween Horror Nights has been revitalized for 2009, a stitched-together Frankenstein Monster jolted back to life with a reanimating bolt of lightening.
