This weekend, Stage 6 films opens THE LODGER in limited one-week engagements in two theatres in the Los Angeles area. (A wider release is scheduled for February 10.) This re-roasting of the old chestnut about a mysterious lodger who schedule coincides with a series of grizzly murders (previously filmed by Alfred Hitchcock and John Brahm) updates the action to modern times, telling the story of a serial killer (Simon Baker) on the Sunset Strip whose actions mimic Jack the Ripper. In this revisionist take, the landlady becomes emotionally involved and possibly complicit - a plot development that has more in common with APARTMENT ZERO than THE LODGER. Alfred Molina, Hope Davis, Shane West, and Rachael Leigh Cook star for writer-director David Ondaatje.
THE LODGER is screening in two Laemmle's Theatres:
- Sunset 5 - 8000 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood (323) 848-3500
- Town Center 5 - 17200 Ventura Blvd, Encino (818) 981-9811
