A double bill of Mad movies screens as part of the Classic Hollywood Series. MAD GENIUS is a 1931 effort with the great John Barrymore more or less recreating his characterization from SVENGALI the same year. MAD DOCTOR (1941) stars Basil Rathbone in the title role - a man who marries and murders his wives, until he falls in love with the latest one and decides to see whether he can redeem himself. It's not a good movie, but Rathbone is great, and the homo-erotic undertones between him and his jealous male assistant are a real hoot.
Programs now commence promptly at 7:30 PM; no food, beverages or active cell phones, please. Schedules are posted subject to print availability. Please check our web site on the day of the screening.
