What’s the best cliche here? “Two heads are better than one”? Or maybe “If at first you don’t succeed, try, trying again”? Either way, American International Pictures released these two movies in the early 1970s, both using the same premise. Fans of ’70s TV horror host Seymour will be pleased to note the presence of actor Larry Vincent in a bit part as a victim who gets killed off early in THE INCREDIBLE 2-HEADED TRANSPLANT. THE THING WITH TWO HEADS benefits from the presence of Rosie Greer and Ray Milland in the title role; the joke is that Milland is a racist who doesn’t like sharing a body with a black man, and the plot is less horror-movie than prison-break (Greer is a wrongfully convicted man running from the police, which leads to lots of action and car crashes).
