Trailer: White Snake (2019)

We’re not sure we like the hyperactive computer-generated animation in this trailer, but we’ll watch any version of this Chinese tale, which previously inspired two of our favorite Hong Kong films, Green Snake (1994) and The Sorcerer and the White Snake (2011). The production from China’s Light Chaser Animation presents itself as a prequel to the famous story of a female snake demon who yearns to become human. Amp Wong (under the name Jiakang Huang) directed from a script by Damao. The 98-minute film is unrated.

GKids Films releases the film nationwide, beginning with a one-week run at the Nuart Theatre beginning on November 15.
