Wallace and Gromit coming to AMPAS
On the weekend of August 7-9, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences will present a three-part tribute to Aardman Animations and their most famous characters, Wallace and Gromit. Guests from Aardman, Davie Sproxton and Dave Alex Riddet, will discuss the history of the company and the making of the films; there will be screenings of newly restored versions of the Wallace and Gromit short subjects (two of them Oscar-winners); and there will be a stop-motion workshop.
The schedule of events includes:
- Wallace and Gromit Restored. A talk with Sproxton and Riddet on the making of the Wallace and Gromit films. August 7 @ 7:30pm at the Samuel L. Goldwyn Theatre in Beverly Hills.
- Crackling Animation. Behind the Scenes with Aardman: a discussion with Sproxton and Riddet on the history of Aardman Animations, including the Oscar-winning Creature Comforts. August 9 @ 9am at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
- A Grand Day Out: Wallace and Gromit Family Matinees. Screening of the four Wallace and Gromit short subjects, followed by a stop motion workshop. August 9 @ 1pm at the Linwood Dunn Theatre in Hollywood.
