Weirdness at HG Website

Visitors searching through our Halloween theme parks, mazes, and shows may have noticed something a little odd recently: double videos or double images appearing at the tops of pages. This is due to an update of our underlying architecture. What happened is this: Hollywood Gothique runs off of WordPress, has always automatically displayed featured images or videos at the top of Posts but not at the top of Pages.* Through use of shortcodes, we were able to place images or videos at the top of Pages, and everything looked fine.

However, a recent WordPress update resulted in featured images or videos displaying on Pages as they did on Posts. Consequently, many of our pages now show both the automatic feature image at top and the one we shortcoded in (as you can see in the image above). We are currently going through the pages to remove the shortcodes. Sorry for the aesthetic mess.

Foonote:

  • Posts are chronological blog entries; Pages are outside the timeline of a blog, so they do not get buried by newer material.)
