Delusion 2013 cancels remaining performances
A post just went up on the Facebook page for Delusion: Masque of Mortality, announcing that the Haunted Play is closing immediately. Ticket sales have been cancelled; refunds will be sent to those who purchased advance tickets. The explanation, given by writer-director Jon Braver, is that he and his team “have been blocked from obtaining the necessary permits to extend [the] show into November.”
This is horrible news for those waiting to see the show, which sold out its October performances, leaving many Los Angeles Halloween fans with no choice but to wait until November. In retrospect, Hollywood Gothique feels incredibly lucky to have gotten in just under the wire, on Sunday, November 3. Even feeling slightly disappointed with the show, we were anticipating a return visit later this month. Oh well, compared to those holding cancelled tickets, we’re glad we got to see the 2013 version of Delusion even once.

To our faithful fans, supporters and community,
As of today, the 2013 run of DELUSION: Masque of Mortality has come to a early close. Despite an incredible amount of effort in trying to work with the local residents and city, we have been blocked from obtaining the necessary permits to extend our show into November. These are permits that we were assuredly told would be received, as we have in the past. We have been trying hard to resolve the situation but various limitations combined with an ongoing very small, but vocal, opposition to the play have led to this unfortunate conclusion.
I want to personally thank each and every one of you who supported the show by purchasing a ticket, sharing with friends and especially for respecting the rules we established to minimize our noise and traffic impact to the surrounding residences. It was due to you that we were able to have such a successful, enjoyable, albeit shortened, run of DELUSION.
For those of you who have purchased tickets for November, you will be receiving a full refund, including service fee, within the next 3 to 5 days. Many of you have also asked about stopping by to purchase a DELUSION limited poster or t-shirt. We are working to make these available online soon as well.
Again, thank you so much for your support of our show. The limited capacity small-group nature of DELUSION, which ensures a personal experience for each person, makes it such that every ticket sold makes a huge difference in keeping the experience alive and in supporting our hardworking actors, volunteers and production crew. Because of you, we’ve been able to grow an ambitious idea into the best original live-action interactive horror experience for the last 3 years. Thanks to you, we will be able to bring it back again next year…in spectacular form, true to the integrity of our concept and building upon what we’ve learned can work and what can not.
More will be announced as we sort things out via our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/enterdelusion) and email newsletter (http://eepurl.com/HAbOz) . If you need anything or have any feedback, please don’t hesitate to let myself or any of our team know. With your support, we will keep working to improve and make the best show we can.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
Sincerely,
Jon Braver
