Hallowed Haunting Grounds – R.I.P.
I’ve been busy all day updating the main Hollywood Gothique website regarding this year’s Halloween attractions that will be open this October: Spooky House, Knott’s “Scary” Farm, the Queen Mary Shipwreck, and the Haunted Vineyard, plus numerous Amateur Haunts that usually take place only on Halloween weekend.
While compiling the information, I was saddened to see that the Hallowed Haunting Grounds, probably the best and longest running amateur haunted house in the Los Angeles area, is planning to call it quits after their “Final Manifestation” in 2005.
I wrote about this house last year, so I won’t go into the details again, except to say that it’s a very elaborate affair that emphasizes amazing live effects achieved in a large front yard. There is no maze and no one jumping out to say “boo,” so it’s perfect for the whole family — great fun and not too scary for little kids.
For over 30 years, the Haunting Grounds have become a local tradition — the perfect place to go on Halloween Night in between bouts of trick-or-treating. It’s truly sad to be losing this institution, and I just want to take this opportunity to thank those who have gone to all the trouble for all these years.
If you have never been, you would be a fool to miss this last chance. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…
Event Date & Time: Final Manifestation of the Haunting Grounds
