Bottom Line: Dia de los Muertos Festival offers a multitude of glorious costumes and amazing altars. The organizers do a fabulous job, spreading out points of interest to keep a crowd of over 40,000 people dispersed so that that lines remain short and visitors can navigate the grounds with ease. Altars are well-placed, so it is easy to see them all. The food is overpriced but still tasty. The stage shows and music are spectacular.

Hollywood Forever Dia De Los Muertos Festival Overview
Hollywood Forever’s Dia De Los Muertos features hundreds of altars celebrating lost loved ones, plus musical performances, dancers, and art exhibitions, all with an emphasis on cultural traditions. Though not strictly speaking a Halloween event, Dia De Los Muertos features costumes and decorations that dovetail nicely with the season while offering an alternative to traditional Halloween events in Los Angeles.
Comfortable attire and shoes are recommended. Bottled water is a good idea in case of a late fall heatwave. Outside food, alcohol, glass containers, bikes, chairs, coolers, skateboards, and pets are not allowed.
Most often the LA Day of the Dead is an all-day event, but in some years it has been divided into day and night sections.
