FAMILY-FRIENDLY HALLOWEEN FUN

Trick-or-Treating, Pumpkin Patches, Spooky Sleepovers, Costume Parties: The Best Family-Friendly Halloween Fun for Children in Los Angeles

Spooky Haunted House: Los Angeles Children's Halloween HauntsLooking for Family-Friendly Halloween Fun in Los Angeles? The Southland offers many kid-safe seasonal events. Some are “lights-on” versions of night-time haunts with the scares toned down to be safe for children; others are special afternoon or one-day presentations that take place in year-round facilities such as zoos and wildlife stations. Also, many L.A. neighborhoods get so far into the seasonal spirit that they appeal not only to local kids but also to outside families, who come to enjoy the decorated yard haunt displays and trick-or-treating opportunities.

NOTE: This pages lists Family-Friendly Halloween Fun targeted predominantly for children. However, some Halloween activities listed elsewhere on our website also appeal to the whole family:

  • Halloween Festivities sometimes include local events designed for neighborhood parents with children.
  • Halloween Home Haunts are a great way to enjoy the holiday with your kids. Most are safe for children, especially if they are simply yard haunts, without a walk-through maze or actors portraying monsters.
  • Halloween Mazes and Rides frequently present kid-safe matinees on weekend afternoons. These will usually not be available on Halloween Night.
  • The Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation offers Family-Friendly Halloween events at several of recreation centers around town. These will include some events specifically for kids, along with slightly scarier events that may be appropriate for older children. Check their website for info.
