Toluca Lake offers numerous decorated yards and a pumpkin patch with a petting zoo.
Toluca Lake Neighborhood Trick or Treating
Ledge Ave and Moorpark Street
Toluca Estates Drive and Valley Spring Lane
Date: Halloween Night (some houses decorated on previous nights)
The neighborhood of Toluca Lake is well known mecca for for trick-or-treating: several streets are filled with decorated houses, perhaps because many of the residents work at nearby Warner Brothers and Walt Disney Studios and relish the opportunity to show off their technical skills on Halloween Night. Unlike other well-to-do neighborhoods in Los Angeles, this is less of an isolated enclave, so you may actually be able to find parking. There is little if anything that would be terrifying to any but the most timid trick-or-treaters. Consequently, Toluca Lake provides an excellent option for family-safe fun on Halloween Night.
The density of yard haunts within a close distance of each other makes the streets listed above worth visiting on Halloween Night, when costumed trick-or-treaters are flitting in the darkness, but many of the houses are decorated days or weeks earlier in case you want to visit when the streets and sidewalks will not be crowded.
It is important to note that the home haunts on display here are decorated houses, mostly with static figures, though some incorporate movement, lighting effects, and sound. These are not walk-through mazes or elaborate audio-visual shows. There is, however, a multitude of yards elaborately decorated often using humorous themes and clever jokes. In some cases, haunts are stacked next door to each other, creating a cumulative effect in which the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Every season there is a contest with decorated yard haunts competing in several categories, supervised by realtor Tina Smith. You can find updates at her website.

Toluca Lake Pumpkin Patch
10601 Riverside Drive
North Hollywood, CA 91602
Every year, the Toluca Lake Florist turns into the Toluca Lake Pumpkin Patch during the month of October, offering Halloween cheer in the form of a petting zoo and a brief, simple haunted maze. You will find pumpkins of every size for your Jack O’Lantern needs, along with carving kits.
While parents are shopping for just the right pumpkin, children can play with ducks and goats in the petting zoo or take a walk through the maze, which is mild enough for even young visitors, although the scare factor varies slightly: early in the season, especially during daylight hours, the maze is mostly decorations; on Halloween Night, there may be a few live monsters, too.
Overall, a nice place to bring the kids for a fun but not too fearsome Halloween experience.
