Halloween house-cleaning

Not sure that title is the most lucid, but we’re doing some virtual house-cleaning here at Hollywood Gothique in anticipation of the Halloween season. (Those of you who think it’s too early to be prepping for Halloween have not bothered to read this post from last year, which quotes the New York Times to the effect that Halloween begins after Labor day.)

Basically, we’ve had some trouble importing post from our old weblog, but we’re doing the best we can, and we’re making Halloween-oriented stuff our priority. You can find these posts under the Halloween category. In addition, we’ve added tags for major haunts like Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights and Knott’s Scary Farm. Go to the page for your favorite haunt, and after the basic information (location, phone number etc), there will be a link to the tagged items, so that you can eaisly find the latest updates and reviews for that attraction.

How long the old weblog will stay up, we do not know – perhaps forever, since it is not costing us anything to leave it. It might be useful to have it as an “archive” of old posts, but it is nearly impossible to find older items: there are no category buttons, and post over a year old do not show up in the search engine, so the only way to get to them is to scroll through the archives chronologically – not my idea of a fun afternoon!

Anyway, we may not transfer everything over. Out of date news items – especially brief ones – will be allowed to disappear into the Internet ether while we focus on reviews, interviews, and other major features.
