Upcoming Horror & Sci-Fi at Aero
The American Cinematheque begins 2009 with slim pickings for fans of fantasy films, mystery movies, horror-thrillers, and sci-fi cinema events in Los Angeles. Nothing of interest is playing at their Egyptian Theatre in Hollyood; fortunately, there are a few interesting programs at their other theatre, the Aero in Santa Monica. After a dry spell of a few weeks, the theatre will offer a double bill of Alfred Hitchcock horror, a double bill of Michael Crchton science fiction, and a triple bill of Mad Max post-apopcalyptic action. Get details below.
Title: Psycho & The Birds
Description: A double bill of terror from director Alfred Hitchcock: the classic tale of what happens when Marion Crane checks into the Bates Motel and the bizarre depiction of nature’s revenge against humanity.
Date: 2009-01-28 at 7:30pm
Title: Westworld & The Lost World: Jurassic Park
Description: A double bill of science fiction stories by the late Michael Crichton. The first, written and directed by Crichton himself, tells of what happens at a vacation resort where humans can fulfill their fantasies, courtesy of robots that eventually run amok. The second is Steven Spielberg’s film version of Crichton’s sequel to his earlier JURASSIC PARK, about genetically recreated dinosaurs.
Date: January 30 at 7:30pm
Title: Mad Max Triple Bill
Description: The American Cinematheque presents an action-packed triple bill of MAD MAX, THE ROAD WARRIOR, and MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME. All are worth seeing, but ROAD WARRIOR is best.
Date: January 31 at 6:30pm
Location: Aero Theatre – 1328 Montana Avenue in Santa Monica
