Montalbán Rooftop Screams 2019
The Montalbán Theatre in Hollywood has announced its schedule for this October’s “Rooftop Screams,” a series of horror and Halloween-theme films screening atop the building. Titles span the past five decades, starting with Carrie (1976) and ending with Get Out (2017). There are and ghosts (Ghostbusters, 1984), vampires (Interview with the Vampire, Let the Right One In), and zombies (Shaun of the Dead and the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead). Gruesome horror will be represented by Friday the 13th (1980) and The Evil Dead (1983), but overall the program trends more toward the whimsical, with titles like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, and Hocus-Pocus.
Screenings take place in the rooftop screening area, which includes an impressive digital projection system with headphones for stereo sound (and to cut out traffic from nearby Vine Street). Drinks, including alcohol, are available, along with Umami burgers and popcorn. Seating is on canvas chairs, including premium prices “love seats” for two.
Doors open at 6:00 pm. Screenings starts after sunset. See the complete schedule here: themontalban.com/rooftopmovies.
