No New Shipwreck Production for Halloween 2009
This is old news at this point, but I wanted to follow up on a post I wrote back in September, about Shipwreck Productions attempting to launch a new Halloween haunt in the wake of losing their gig at the Queen Mary TerrorFest. Basically, Shipwreck had been set to haunt the Queen Mary again this year – the official website had even been updated with dates and tickets prices – when the Queen Mary management pulled the rug out from under them. Shipwreck vowed to find a new location and wrote several posts on their MySpace page, detailing their last-minute efforts, but in the end, the time constraints were insurmountable. In a post dated October 10, they announced the bad news:
It’s sad but true, the time has come to an end. Unfortunately, we were unable to secure our new location and unveil our new haunt opening October 16th. At the last minute, the owners pulled out due to not enough time to get the facility ready for us. We have been working around the clock, literally 24/7 trying to make this happen and had almost all the approvals from the city. With all our hard work and all your support we were so close to making it happen this year. It is amazing what we accomplished in such a short time from being screwed at the last minute by the Queen Mary, Gridlock and Spooky House. Once again, we would like to thank everyone and we mean everyone for your support! It just goes to show that there are so many good people left in the world that have great morals, integrity and loyalty. We can’t thank you enough and are truly sorry for dragging this out and not being able to pull things off. However, we now have a year to plan and come back like no other. We will be back in 2010 guaranteed. We created Shipwreck from nothing with just one maze back in 1995 to the massive Halloween event with 7 mazes, 2 huge dance parties, live bands, scare zones and an entire night of fright that it was in 2008 along with all your help. […] Just know, we will be back and bigger than ever. We’ve done it before and we will do it again. Thanks again to everyone!!! We look forward 2010!!! What a wonderful world!
