San Fernando Valley Home Haunt Odyssey: New Recommendations for Halloween 2025
Our annual Halloween Haunt Odyssey in the San Fernando highlights walk-throughs and the more elaborate yard displays in the areas surrounding Burbank. Burbank typically has the most action in the entire SFV.
With the growing trend of entry-level yard displays being listed on the So Cal Haunt List and the Burbank Haunt Maps (which has taken on a whole new life on its own), we decided to mention the haunts and displays that you won’t come across often and has a minimal amount of store bought props. After all, you should be aware of what is worth the drive out and what isn’t.

2025 Halloween Haunt Odyssey Recommendations: Burbank
Rotten Apple 907: Draconic Archive
October 25-26, 31, November 1, 7-10pm
907 N. California Street, Burbank

This is a legitimate walk-through haunt that really needs no introductions or any more publicity. Legitimate walk-through meaning that it’s an actual maze where you go inside like a “haunted house”; not someone’s open air garden bath with light displays. With nearly 3 and a half decades of pushing the envelope in terms of home haunts; one can clearly see why there are constant lines all the way around the corner of the cross street.
This year’s theme was cleverly billed as an archive for dragons. With so much detail that went into building this museum or collective of all things dragon related; it would’ve been hard for fans of Game Of Thrones or How To Train A Dragon to have not visited the Draconic Archive. Especially when the Sorcerer conjures up some magic and mirth. There were books, resources, magic and body parts? Clearly this meant that they were safeguarding more than just books and knowledge.
If you’re looking for a non-gory and spooky walk-through, this can rival some major theme park haunts.

Fright Pros
Starts Mid-October
454 S. Lamer St, Burbank

Formerly known as The Fright Gallery, this elaborate yard display is a must-see every year. True to its original name, it is literally a fright gallery. Typically you can find a setup of 3 screens masked behind a projection or a disappearing display and a show that runs every few minutes; and there’s always a spooky theme behind it. If you were just driving by and didn’t know any better; you would’ve thought it was just an elaborate cemetery and mausoleum display with nothing else going on.
We couldn’t verify opening times or dates but we usually visit towards mid to late October.

Burbank Barbie House
Mid-October through Halloween Night, 5-11pm
1021 N. California Street, Burbank

We first learned about the Burbank Barbie House courtesy of Rotten Apple. They recommended that we check it out because it was fun and fun indeed it was. This was our 3rd year in a row visiting this display. However, it was the first time we experienced it having this many moving parts. There were 3 dioramas and each one featured Barbies as the main cast in these classic “horror” movies: Frankenstein, IT and Scary Movie; hence we put quotations on the word “horror”. The Frankenstein and Scary Movie diorama featured enough movement that it was almost considered a mini show. It was definitely long enough to have you there for over 5 minutes to admire this “mini” showcase.

Holiday Fantasies Come To Life: Villains & Friends Bash
Mid-October through Halloween Night, 6:30-11pm
1505 N. Valley Street, Burbank

Though not exactly a haunt, Holiday Fantasies Come To Life are always known for their elaborate displays often times utilizing Disney themes. Each year, a different theme related to a popular cartoon or intellectual property magically appears on at the corner of Valley Street and Hatteras Ave. Check their social media for special nights with live music and characters. They also do something entirely different for Christmas time.

Burbank Haunt: Beetlejuice
Mid-October through Halloween Night
857 N. Maple Street, Burbank

The Burbank Haunt continued with it’s Beetlejuice theme which was extremely popular last year. The dazzling and interactive yard display offered much more this year with props that made us feel we were immersed into the movie. The variety of photo ops that make it feel like you were in the office while waiting for your number to be called definitely was a big factor; and this was all on the driveway. The main yard has a show that reoccurs every several minutes it seemed.

Wicked of Oz
Mid-October through Halloween Night
1743 N. California Street, Burbank

The other elaborate haunt on North California Street not named Rotten Apple, this interactive display boasts a different theme each year. Since the Oz universe is hot and fresh on everyone’s mind right now, they went with “Wicked of Oz”; which made sense since it is for Halloween and you don’t want to get in trouble for copyright infringement. This interactive display had a mixture of video clips, special effects and props that paid homage to the current Oz films and the classics.
